What counts as unfair creditor hassle?

  • Contacting you several times a day, or at unsociable hours
  • Pursuing you on social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook
  • Putting pressure on you to pay all the money off, or in larger instalments when you can't afford to
  • Threatening you physically or verbally
  • Trying to embarrass you in public
  • Implying that legal action can be taken when it can't
  • Giving the impression that court action has been taken against you when it hasn't
  • Giving the impression that not paying the debt is a criminal offence (not true for most debts)

What can I do about it?

We can contact your creditors, pointing out if they are in breach of Financial Conduct Authority rules and requiring them to contact you only in writing in future.  Get in touch with us here.

After that, you do need to open their letters and respond to them! If that thought troubles you, just collect all your letters for your appointment with us.  We will explain which ones you need to keep.

If you'd like to reply by letter yourself, you can find a template
